Community Newsletter

Dear BSD Community,

Open House Announcement:  As most of you are aware, we seem to be sending out notices often regarding positive cases and exposure to COVID daily. I am keeping a close eye on the community spread on CDC's Covid Tracker as well as current information from schools in the county and their experiences with transmission rates. I am very proud of all the efforts that our staff has done to mitigate the spread at school, and I want to finish this year strong and healthy. I have made a decision that the Open House scheduled for May 25th for Brisbane Elementary School and June 8th for Lipman Middle School are not essential events right now and are canceled. I do feel it is important to find a way to celebrate all of the successes of our students and of our classrooms this year. Our staff will find a way for each class to celebrate in a new and different way this year.

Masks:   California Department of Public Health strongly recommends that all individuals wear a mask while indoors and especially when proper social distancing can not be practiced. Schools have seen an uptick in cases over the past 2-3 weeks and most appear to be associated with functions such as proms and other evening events. I encourage all of us to return to wearing a mask while indoors over the next couple of weeks to minimize any spread. I understand this is difficult as many of us have become accustomed quickly to not wearing a mask. When the mask mandate was removed, 90% of people at schools continued to wear a mask; however, in the last week we have noticed this number reduced to approximately half of those on campus. I believe that this trend of spikes will continue for some time and we will have periodic times of increased mask-wearing and canceling/postponement of events.

Lunches:   The Brisbane School District has been working hard to bring a better lunch option for our students. We have been building the infrastructure and working through many logistics to have the Bayshore School District be our lunch provider. We are in the process of doing trial runs this school year to work out the transportation, serving and cleaning of equipment. This is a huge undertaking for the Bayshore School District as they must double their food production. We are excited to have another lunch trial run for BES and Panorama on Wednesday, June 1st. We will not be offering the Revolution Food item for that day. However, please select an item on Boonli for June 1st so that we know how much food to prepare. The District will provide enough food for all those who wish to sample our new food so long as you order in advance.

Lunch Menu:
  - Spaghetti with meat sauce (vegetarian option available)
  - Fresh tossed Salad
  - Fresh seasonal Fruit
  - Milk

At Home Test kits:   As schools begin to receive at-home-test kits for families, we will be sending them home with your child. You can also request 8 home tests from the USPS at
